Our Leaders

Doug Becker, Pastor

Doug’s life mission is to make Christ known and adored through the teaching of God’s Word. Through this journey, God brought him to us in early July. Doug holds a BA in Bible and Theology from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and a Master of Arts in Old Testament and Semitic Languages from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. Before coming to us, he taught Old Testament in the Bible department of Moody Bible Institute and served as an intern pastor at Jacksonville Chapel in Lincoln Park.

Doug’s wife, Jamie, has faithfully supported him in ministry and in life for over six years, and together they are proud parents of Caraline Faith, who was born in late 2010. We are excited to have Doug as our new pastor, and we look forward to seeing what God will continue to do in and through his life.
Feel free to contact Doug at doug@newbeginningsbc.org.

Eric and June Seal, Directors of Student Ministry

Eric and June are the leaders of Revolution, the youth group at New Beginnings, and they are the perfect people for this task. They have a heart for people of all ages, and are especially gifted in reaching out and relating to teens.

Eric worked with junior high students in his previous church and has taught children’s church (CIA) at New Beginnings. June has been involved with Girl Scouts and children’s church. But their primary credentials are that they love our teens, open their home to them, and are great examples of how Jesus changes lives.

Eric works as a CFO at a company in Newark, and June worked for 20 years at a major pharmaceutical company and is now “semi-retired.” She now works as a fitness trainer in local health clubs (go Pilates!). In their spare time the Seals like to travel, especially to South Carolina, and to zip around on their boat on Lake Hopatcong.

Eric and June are enthusiastic about all the great things that Revolution does, and there is a lot on the horizon for all our teens. Most importantly—you’re invited to come out and join them.

Anne Caso, Director of Music

Anne is an accomplished singer, having performed The Messiah with the Cathedral Choir for many years. Having recently been appointed Music Director in early 2011, she has amazing enthusiasm, and has added tremendous variety and new energy to this important ministry.

Anne is the creative and driving force behind the worship team and has incorporated many of our youth as a big part of our Sunday services. By combining the latest Christian contemporary music with traditional hymns, Anne bridges the gap by appealing to our diverse congregation ranging from youth to seniors (and everything in between). Whatever we’re singing, Anne makes sure that the focus remains on praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Craig and Marcia Smith, Missions Coordinators

Craig and Marcia lead the New Beginnings Bible Church missions ministry. They keep tabs on those whom we support to carry the name of Christ to other people groups, and ensure that we support them as best as we are able.

Craig is a trustee at New Beginnings, and has an incredible heart for reaching others for Christ. He loves history, and when not in church or sharing his faith with others, he can be found on the battleground, re-enacting events of the Civil War with hundreds and sometimes thousands of other re-enactors. His desire is to serve one day as chaplain of his unit, where he currently serves as president. Craig has the gift of encouragement, and encourages you to come out to one of our activities, whether a Sunday morning service, a mid-week Bible Study, an evening of fellowship, or taking a trip to support one of our missionaries.

Marcia is a very well-loved member of New Beginnings. She came to know Christ as a child, and has since served in various ministries, including singles, children, women, adult music, greeting, and finance. She has also served as a member of the women’s ministry planning team and as a teacher in our children’s CIA program. For fun, Marcia likes to play volleyball, both indoor and outdoor. Most recently, she and Craig have opened up their home to host one of our 211 groups.
